Hyaluronic Acid Serum vs. Hydration Serum

Both serums hydrate, but they are built differently and do different jobs. The Hyaluronic Acid Serum is the surge: sodium hyaluronate and glycerin for a plumper look. The Hydration Serum is the steady baseline: no hyaluronic acid, a calm glycerin and Cassia seed layer for daily comfort.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum: the surge

Sodium hyaluronate, the salt form of hyaluronic acid, and glycerin are both humectants. Together they draw water into the surface for a plumper look, with butylene glycol as a lightweight conditioning ingredient. This is the serum for skin that feels tight or dehydrated, flakes around the nose or shows fine dehydration lines. Apply 3–5 drops to slightly damp skin, morning and evening.

Hydration Serum: the steady baseline

This one contains no hyaluronic acid. Glycerin hydrates, an antioxidant-rich Cassia obtusifolia seed extract adds a botanical layer, and pentylene glycol completes the base. The result is a calmer serum that keeps skin comfortable and balanced every day, well suited to sensitive or easily irritated-feeling skin. Use 2–4 drops, morning and evening, under moisturizer and SPF.

Which one you need

Choose the Hyaluronic Acid Serum when skin feels tight or looks dehydrated: flaking, a deflated look, lines that deepen by evening. Choose the Hydration Serum when you want a steady daily layer, when your skin is sensitive or easily irritated, or when you prefer a botanical formula without hyaluronic acid. If both sound familiar, you likely need both.

Using both

Many people use both, for different jobs. Apply the Hyaluronic Acid Serum to slightly damp skin first, let it settle, then follow with the Hydration Serum and moisturizer. To keep it simpler, split them: Hydration Serum in the morning, Hyaluronic Acid Serum at night. Either fits next to retinol or glycolic acid in the evening.

Questions

Common questions.

What is the difference between hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate?

Sodium hyaluronate is the salt form of hyaluronic acid. Both are humectants that attract and hold water at the surface of the skin. Sodium hyaluronate dissolves easily in water-based formulas, which is why the Hyaluronic Acid Serum is built on it, together with glycerin.

Can you layer two hydrating serums?

Yes. Apply the Hyaluronic Acid Serum first on slightly damp skin, then the Hydration Serum, then moisturizer. Wait a moment between layers so each one settles. If your skin feels sticky or heavy, use one in the morning and the other at night instead.

Which hydrating serum is better for sensitive skin?

Usually the Hydration Serum. It contains no hyaluronic acid and relies on glycerin and Cassia obtusifolia seed extract, a calmer botanical formula that keeps easily irritated-feeling skin comfortable day to day. If skin also feels tight or dehydrated, add the Hyaluronic Acid Serum underneath.
